Default 1933 Ford 3-W Cp Deluxe vs Strandard

Have a 33 3-W coupe that I want to start working on. Needs a lot of detail parts and work but should restore nicely. It was originally a standard model which is unusual today. My question is, should I restore as a standard model or change to a deluxe model. Add right taillight, cowl lights, dual chrome horns, ash tray, lighter, speedo, chrome windshield frame, painted vs wood grained dash/moldings.

Does it change the value or desirability, + or -, very much.

With that wonderful body style, Only a few average people would likely notice the difference. The basic model would save adding the few parts that make the difference.

If desirability includes unique as a criteria, then a restoration of it as built better fits that term. You can bet that a majority of the survivors of the 6600 built that have been restored have been converted into the deluxe version.

I've a couple of '32 and '33 standard open cars and they are being restored as built.

Rumble seats for all North American '32-'34 coupes, with the exception of '32 sport coupes, were optional at extra cost.

I kept my 34 5 window a standard and those in the know appreciated it.

Three of my '35's are standard models, and you couldn't pay me enough to convert any of these cars to deluxe models. I will admit that I do not like having only one taillight, so I have added a "BrakeLighter" bar in the back window of my avatar, and have a plan to add a right side taillight without mounting it in the fender like a deluxe model.

Or one of the add-on rear window lights, they can be found with brake and right and left turn.

In the '33 model year (only) the 3-window coupe was offered in both the standard and deluxe configurations, at least in the U.S..

The addition of the second tail lamp and cowl lamps does not a deluxe make as those items were available as dealer-installed extra equipment and in some jurisdictions, one or both of them were required on all vehicles.

It is one thing to leave a trailer queen with a single tail lamp, but quite another for a car being driven, day or night, especially given how anemic and small were the original lights.

David- i agree my 1934 Standard Fordor is fitted with Twin tail lights and cowl lights - Many times I have been told that they are incorrect for my car . However original photos from when the car was very new suggest these were dealer installed when the car was purchased,-Karl
