To answer flatford8, I believe that this Canadian Mercury 114 has Accessory Wide Wheel Trims tucked under the Hubcap?

Here is another variation of Canadian produced Ford and US... "the bird" on the bonnet / Hood of my 48. Instead of the blue plastic insert we got the US 46 type with the 8 removed off it and filled and chromed. Was this the case with Canadian late 47/48 Fords?

As Newc pointed out, the X means Super Deluxe in the Mercury 114 models.

Actual production figures are some what elusive. I do have a long door cpe 114x '48. Have seen numbers of 365 for that yr/model? Newc
