Default 47 G-series Starter Issue

Merry Christmas,

So, I'm working on getting a 47 pickup G series 6 cylinder going. I'm having problems with the starter. The engine is free. When I engage the starter, I can hear it running fast but it never engages the flywheel. Any ideas?

Thanks.

Dale

If you replace the Bendix sprng, make sure you get on made in the USA. I think Van Pelt's are.

Thank you Gentelemen. I swapped the spring out with one I had on another starter. Works fine now. The spring wasn't broken but it didn't have enough "spring."
