I could use a simple basic wiring diagram to wire up a motor on a chassis thanks for your time Joe

Connect battery (and generator) to coil (-).
Connect points (through switch) to coil (+).
Connect HT wire between coil and distributor cap.

For negative ground, reverse coil (+/-) above.

and here's the simplest Model A ignition circuit ... which completely avoids ammeter and its wiring and switch and its wiring ( where short circuits or breaks could be causing problems). [PS ideally if ground is -ve then connect coil -ve to points. If ground is positive then connect coil+ve to points but it generally works OK even if coil polarity is incorrect!]

OK, same drawing, modified to omit ammeter and switch. To me, that's obvious, having no body. It's also implicit that you have to hang the coil somewhere. Hard to connect the points without the armored cable too.

I always carry the end of an old ignition cable to screw into the distributor which makes hot wiring easy.
