50 F1 Parking Cable Boot
I'm looking for a set of Parking Cable boots, part number 01Y-2597-A
They are the little rubber boot that cover the ends of the parking brake cable under the box. They aren't being reproduced as far as I can tell. If anyone has seen any for sale recently, can you send me a link? (see part 2597, attached picture) Thanx, Kirk

Re: 50 F1 Parking Cable Boot
A guy in florida was planning on reproducing them but not sure if he did. He does make the rubber boots for the magic air heaters on 51-52 trucks. You might look on the ford-trucks.com site for him. His handle is firstrider over there.
I found some NOS ones for my truck and within a couple years they had turned to dust due to crappy rubber. |

Re: 50 F1 Parking Cable Boot
Ya, I'm on FTE as well. He never finished making the reproductions unfortunately.

Re: 50 F1 Parking Cable Boot
The guys over on FTE had a good idea, making those with a 3D printer. I need to bug my wife for a drawing and try to print one.

Re: 50 F1 Parking Cable Boot
I agree with you guys, it would seem entirely possible to either 3d print, or get a shop to specialty make a batch of these. However I don't have an original to work from.
I was thinking that if anyone had one, I would 3d scan it, and try and make up a drawing for the future generations of OCD Ford guys who are trying to keep things sort of original. There is a project running on FTE to reproduce them, but its been slow going. Kirk

Re: 50 F1 Parking Cable Boot
There is a place close to here, a tech shop, I am going to run one by there and see if they can make them. My wife thinks they can, will report back in a week or so.

Re: 50 F1 Parking Cable Boot
That sounds great JB.
I only have a small remnant on one of my original ebrake cables. Not enough to get any measurements from. Kirk

Re: 50 F1 Parking Cable Boot
Conventional method of of pouring them like the heater boots did not work out . Contacted a young energetic friend that 3D printed a prototype . We are making a fine adjustment to it & will re 3D print it & check for fitment . Stay
tuned will have them soon .. |
