Just a wild guess but I would say 50% were wrecked, worked to death or went to the WWII scrap drives. Another 25% or more had their motors changed to something that was more cheaper and had more power after the Model B motor died or was more cost to fix then it was worth. The remaining 25% or less is either in someones garage and not for sale, turned into a hot rod or has been parted out over the years.

That leaves very few to be original. This holds true I think for mostly anything before WWII. Again nothing to back this up, just my thoughts.

On a recent thread, we saw many '33 and '34 Pickups shown by the members.Someone with a 32 should start another thread with their picture and see how many show up. Byron.

Well first of all 1932 was a short production year and any 30's pickup had a hard life!! The pickups were used on the farm and in commercial use until they were worn out, then sold to someone else who fixed it up and used it until it was worn out the second time. After this they were patched up and used to haul slop to the pigs. When the third life of the pickup was finished they were stripped down to the frame and a hay wagon was made out of the chassis. And you are asking why you can't find an original?

They are still out there, but you have to get out an beat the bushes to find them.

This 32 pickup belongs to my friend Dan and was purchased through an estate in North Carolina, about 10 years ago and still has it and drives it a lot.

And this one belongs to my friend Steve,he bought this original 32 pickup in Pigeon Forge,Tenn. this past September.HRP

I think I've seen as many restored stock or unrestored original ones as I have "rodded" ones. The rodders are actually saving trucks that would otherwise just continue to rust away in the "back 40".

Guys like me are one of the reasons they are getting scarce. Third one I've built and they were all chopped. Just did the current chop on a really nice cab I had. Wacked it 3 inchs, What an improvement! A little conservative for me but I'm getting old.

Here is one that I owned a few years ago. Unfortunately, I sold it and it became a hot rod . Now I wish I still had it.

Dragging up an old thread.
Managed to find one and gathering parts to put it back to a somewhat stock unrestored condition, with a few subtle upgrades. It will not see a SBC, SBF, Hemi, Nailhead etc. under my watch but more a period correct version.
Getting difficult to find original parts but slowly getting there.
I did find a pair of unrestored commercial headlights and horn, thanks to the Barn and HAMB.
I have leads on a commercial grille but have to sell my passenger to fund it.
Plans are to update the brakes to hydraulic in the future as well.
Banger will stay and gathering parts to warm it up a little. So far have a Burns dual intake and a pair of Stromberg 81`s. Looking for a cast Winfield head and have a lead on one of those as well.
New wiring harness from Tyree as well as a 12 volt conversion with a stock looking generator. Adding signal lights, utilizing the headlights as well as stock taillights.
Presently need a stock ammeter, commercial grille with radiator cap, outside black mirror and original floorboards. I did get a drawing from a Barner for a toe board as well.
Pickup will probably not see a restore, body wise, as long as I have it.

Starting another (4th) deuce pu. Found a really nice Colorado cab in Ohio. Gonna make this one look fairly original but it's hard not to lower it some and chop the top just a little? We'll see. Still going on one of my chassis with some sort of later power, maybe a FH?

Ora,

You need to include your general location in your post and in your profile. If you buy a high end, expensive classic it is worth shipping it across the country. A '32 pickup should be purchased close to home. If I knew you were in Southern California I would go out of my way to follow up any leads I might find, but if you are in Florida it would be wasting my time.

Good point Charlie and when I was looking they all seemed to be out of reach distance wise.

Looks great, but it appears as though you've round head rivets on the top ends of the front cross member. That will cause you some difficulty when you re-attach the front fenders, if you plan to do so.

My 32 pickup was purchased in 1999, under a farmers shed roof, currently under restoration by me. It was nearly complete and unmolested except for the right rear fender which was half cut off. I am guessing it ran a saw from that wheel. Pete

Ok, it's a bb truck, but close.
Most everyone who knows me, knows that i love old tin, but am much better at finding it then restoring it. (hey everyone needs to have a purpose). Here is my second found 1932 in the last 3 years. The other was also a truck. This will be recovered in the spring when the weather is better. Not in bad shape for upstate new york. Appears to have been driven into the wood 30 plus years ago and parked. Keys still inside. Has a funky aftermarket duel axle set up.still looking for that 3 window coupe in the barn.....

David thanks for the kind words! You are correct about the round heads, I will be addressing those in the near future. You have good eyes picking them out from the awful cell phone picture. The white walls will be gone soon as well.
