One of these days I'll have to get there.

Just a plug for the sister in law. If you don't mind a little commute, she owns the Yellow House Hotel in Douglassville. Built in 1801, so George "coulda" slept there.

Rooms are very reasonable and the resturant and bar are sensational.

Now I've got to email the wife and suggest we go and see her sister in October!

Besides the port-a-johns that are well maintained there are for real bathrooms midway in the Chocolate Field. Soap and running water sure helps clean rusty hands. Bob

Bring $$$ and a little wagon...you will quite likely find everything you have ever wanted, and many more things you hadn't realized you wanted.
The worst of Hershey is better than anything else going on, and perhaps the best is the unexpected stuff you run into...gigantic classics, clown cars, midget vehicles from 1920, tanks, 110 year old cars chugging around, people who know everything, people who think they know everything, experts on Hispano-Suiza lugnuts, a whole area off limits to late-model cars made after 1905...

Hershey is great. variable weather-count on rain. Wear layers, take water and snacks. The food vendors are pretty tightly controlled and there's not much that's not strictly commercial. Parking's ok-entrance is free. You need to go one weekday and also Saturday to see the judged cars. No more mud-that was fun, but you still can get sore feet. I can do the whole site if I push it(walk about 14 miles on my pedometer) but you have to wear the right clothing and have the right shoes and be a hiker.

Please leave the car and wagon in your car as a courtesy until you need it. There is far too much time spent dodging folks who never watch where they're dragging/leaving/ placing their wagon or cart while they peruse the goods, meanwhile leaving their junk in everybody else's way to trip over.

Have a good time.

Yep...its a great swapmeet...take a wagon to throw all your buys on and have pen and paper to write the site numbers down if you leave stuff at a vendor or see something interesting. There is a kool restaruant/diner in Hummelstown worth a visit..1 road into iHummeltown and the diner its well lit up...The Hershey Chocolate Factory round town bus bus tour is also another good thing to do. Not while the swapmeet is on though..to many bargins to be had..
