two Ford assembly plants...
If you had your pick of just two Ford assembly plants between Kansas City and/or San Francisco...which one would it be? Both, neither, or one over the other?

Re: two Ford assembly plants...
I would pick KC because it is likely my 1930 Coupe was "born" there. I was born in Kansas and rode home from the hospital in that very same Coupe in 1939. That Coupe resides in my garage and is in better shape than I am!!!

Re: two Ford assembly plants...
The San Francisco plant was in the process of being replaced by the new Richmond plant in the model A era. It was one of the old tall multi story buildings that had to have elevators to move things around so assembly was slower and less cars were produced. The new Richmond plant didn't produce many model A cars since it was so new in the time frame and the depression was slowing things down quite a bit.
The Kansas City Winchester ave plant was built more like the Highland Park plant. It was a long multi story plant that was well suited for assembly line production and stayed in production till 1957. This plant had a lot of capability for its time. |

Kansas City because Andy Reid, the KC Coach, has a 28 coupe that he and some friends restored!

Jeez Steve, I'd pick Long Beach because they had the Wests monopoly on fenders. You know, those enormous stacks in the warehouse.

Re: two Ford assembly plants...
If my geography is correct, the ONLY plant "between" KC and SF would be Denver. LOL
