Question 2 blade fan replacement

I have a steel 2 blade fan on my car that I want to replace with an alloy one I purchased. Can the changeover be done without removing the radiator?

I just did mine, I removed the two support rods at the top of the radiator, loosened the top radiator hose at the head, and just moved the top forward towards the headlight bar. Bonnet will come loose, but I have a bracket that holds both sides up at once.
Removed the water pump with fan connected, and changed over on the bench.

Yes, that is possible. You must remove the water pump, loosen the upper tube, loosen the radiater screws. The radiator top must be some Inch track away into the front.

The above is easier if you have these: https://www.brattons.com/water-pump-...tud-bolts.html , otherwise, you'll need to remove your stock studs to get the clearance to cock the fan/pump assembly up and away from the head.

Most important step is to put a sheet of corrugated cardboard on the back of the radiator to protect it.

I did not have to remove my water pump to replace my steel fan with the aluminum. Remove rods, hood, upper hose, and license plate. Radiator had enough spring to tilt forward to the headlight bar and then old fan off and new fan on. Fan blades are horizontal when removing and installing. Tape some cardboard on the radiator engine side ahead of the fan so as not to damage radiator fins.

If you are unlucky, you may have to use a puller to get the fan off of the taper. In this case, you have to remove the pump from the engine and you should be able to do this without removing the radiator. Ed

Can you post a picture of that bracket? And/or explain it?
I have a torn tendon in my right shoulder so I can't lift much w/my arm out, only straight up.
I can lift and remove the hood on a Model T, but not on a Model A as they are a lot heavier.

How can that work if the radiator stays are undone - as they must be to remove the water pump?
I use one of those too and like it but I don't think it would help me in this application. A simple wooden prop from the head to under the center hinge sounds more like it to me. I'd make the bottom of the prop as wide as the head to give it some sideways stability.
