Default Fuel-Gauge Innards

I've finally determined that the fuel gauge in my '36 has gone south. Can the innards of this gauge be replaced with ones from a later-year gauge? Just curious, as I don't see many passenger-car fuel gauges available for this year. If the guts from a later-model gauge would work I'd just go that route.

Thanks!

And nevermind about this; I just found someone that has a NOS gauge. :-)
