Default Roadster Top Won't Go Up?

Ever since I replaced the stanchions and frame with originals the top hold downs will not fit on the stanchions. The top bow is original. Doesn't seem to line up vertically or horizontally. 28 Roadster

Can you get enough play by loosening the stanchions and moving them around a little to get the top seated, and then tightening them back down? Or are they too far off even for that? Horizontal I can get. But the vertical being off is puzzling. Let us know what happens.

I tried loosening the wingnuts but I can also try the screws.

While that may be true, it sure does not seem that way. It sounds like poor craftsmanship from a former restorer is creating stress for you now.

Thematically, that fits in with the rest of the PO's "restoration." What can be done?

Tried loosening the screws but to no avail. New top and restoration of bows?
