Default 39 ford

I will start my car 39 ford 85 hp let it run for awhile and then shut it of try and start it again it turns over but will not catch already replaced distributor cap would appreciate any ideas thanks

Sounds like ignition to me. I'd make sure I had a properly timed distributor, a good Skip Haney coil, good wiring with good connections, good condenser and your V8 will start every time. In other words, it might be time for an ignition system tune up.

Probably the result of a component that funtions okay when cool but fails when heated. The components to check would be the coil, condenser, and ignition resistor mounted on firewall, behind dash.
