Am I Missing a Part?
I have a trunk mount spare tire carrier that came from a '31 coupe. It looks like the piece on the bottom should hook (or lock, maybe) to a piece that might come down from the front of the wheel. however, if that's the case, I don't have that piece. Anyone seen this and can you tell me how it's supposed to work?

Re: Am I Missing a Part?
What you have is half of an accessory spare tire lock strap.

Re: Am I Missing a Part?
That's kind of what I thought but can't find any reference to them in vendor catalogs. Any idea where I can find the other half?

Re: Am I Missing a Part?
These accessory "Tire Bands" have not been made since their introduction in the 1930's. No reproductions have been made. However, you may find them during your search for 'Hens Teeth', at swap meets and antique car 'classifieds'.
I have four - for the Ford Model A, they come in two sizes - one for the 19" tire and another for the 21" tire. When searching for the missing half, pay attention to the sizing. |

It's not that Bill is a violent person per se, I mean...just look at that boyish smile on his face.
He's just stating what any red blooded American should do to thieves. And he had a pretty hot girlfriend too.

They pop up on eBay occasionally.

Re: Am I Missing a Part?
Thanks for the info. I'll see what I can find or just do without. By the way, I agree with both Bill and Burner31!
