Default bed for 1934 fenderless hotrod

Has anyone ever successfully used a later bed on the 32-36 pickups? can the later wider bed sides be used with earlier front panel and gate. having a hard time finding a useful bed, but am finding lots of later beds 48-56 range. any comments or ides welcome.

In the 90's I made several beds using the external dimensions of a 32/34 bed. They were all the stock width but were different lengths depending on the truck. I made them out of 14 gauge cold roll. I took the dimensions to a local sheet metal shop and they bent it to my specs and I brought the parts home and welded it together. They had all the bends of a stock bed but with a fixed tailgate. Also I made the stake pockets out of 2 inch square tube. I used furniture grade marine plywood for the floors. If my memory is correct I had about 700.00 in each bed.
