Default 1955 272 front steadyrest engine mount installation

hi, I am assembling a newly rebuilt 272 to put back into my '55 country sedan. When I position the front engine mount to bolt it to the front cover in two places along with two oil pan bolts it seems as though it's cocked back towards the front cover at a little angle instead of being parallel to the front cover. Should a correct install have washers on the two bolts to space the top of the mount out a half inch from the top cover, or does the mount sit directly on the face of the front cover. I would appreciate any guidance. many thanks, David

Maybe this will help -

The engine has to sit squarely in the cradle with all mounts good. The rear mount (TRANS) will determine proper angle.

The large red mount bolts directly to the timing chain cover. At the very front of the mount there is a metal spacer that straddles the two bolts that go through the red mount. That spacer sits on a rubber rectangular block. That rubber block sits on the bracket on the backside of the frame front crossmember. There is an identical rubber block and retainer plate under the crossmember bracket.
The large red mount itself is not adjustable. The front steady rest components are adjustable vertically and horizontally.
Assemble the steady rest components loosely until the mount at the transmission tail housing is bolted down tight, then tighten the two side bolts at the steady rest and finally tighten the steady rest center bolt from underneath.
