Default Radius bolts

I'm restoring an engine and transmission. When I put the new radius ball socket bolts in the bell housing they are too low to be caught by the radius ball retainer pin. How can I fix this problem?

I make a spacer to lift the bolts up. Check the hardware store for a piece of pipe the correct diameter if you can't find any other spacers.
