A truly fantastic video and a snapshot in time of America's manufacturing might. Had we not had this to fall back on at the outbreak of WWII things might be different today. Unfortunately a lot of this "might" has gone to China these days.
I also agree with Shadetree on the fingers thing. I bet none of those press operators could order three beers with one hand!

I loved the way the guy was applying the pinstripe. All three lines at the same time. Most of the pin stripers I have ever from original factory motion pictures, it was done with a brush.

That looks like wire seam welding to me.

As recently as 1969, Western Electric in Cicero, Illinois, had men standing above hot pits doing that same dance with copper wire. They would work 15 minutes and then get a similar break. They were the most highly paid labor in the plant, I was told.

There are so many parts of the film I find amazing. But the part that stands out for me is, how the giant stamps were made with such precision for the frames, fenders, floor pans, etc.
I also love the upholsterer's with the mouth full of tacks. Look closely. There was obviously no such thing as OSHA back then.
Thanks for posting. Love going back in time.
