I had to pay $850 for a set. I know it is stupid. Cheaper than the NOS 40 headlights I bought. It is the price to pay for playing in that sandbox.

Also, what judges do and what they should do are often at odds. I agree with Mike Kubarth, deductions for 5 rib plugs should happen. Last time I judged, was told to "overlook that" as well as some obvious rust. I hate to see standards slipping but they are.

Until the rules are changed, I'll judge according to them.
When they are changed to a point that non-authentic / non-correct is accepted at the same level as authentic / correct, I'll stop judging. What's the point of judging if the award no longer has meaning?

Lawson,
Guess I'll have to look some more. If I find any I'd sell them for half that price. LOL. Praying for good weather!

I actually had pursued that very thing many years ago. Champion was more than willing and able to accurately reproduce the plugs for me. Cost (around 1990 or so) was $3 each. Minimum quantity was 100,000 pieces.

Tom, H9's have little value, maybe $100 for that set. H9's are not rare at all. Sorry for the bad news.

Some off brand spark plug. Pix out of the box might help identify them.

Like others I have gone through my old sparkplugs. In the '80s I was given a nice bunch of old plugs considered duplicates in the collections of octogenarians at our yearly hit n miss/ tractor show. I pulled out some splitdorfs, edisons, rajahs, lincoln, maytag (for the gas washing machine)you name it but no coke
bottles. I swear there's a box way back in a closet. Haven't moved since I built this old cracker box in 1980. But gonna look for that box tomorrow.
