Default 32 roadster Floor Board

I am building floor boards for a 32 Brookville roadster. I have a copy of the Model 18 notes by Dave Cole on building the number 1 Floor board. It shows a part number 353109-S15 Floor socket that goes into the B-holes. What was that used for? Also what goes into the A-holes. (sounds bad)

How was the transmission cover fastened to the floor boards.

Im not near my books today, but the sockets are for the floor mat snaps.

Wonder what the thread was in those sockets.

There were no threads in the original stamped sockets. They're like a tiny tin can turned up side down with a hole in the bottom of the can as shown below. Rubber mats were retained with the T-shaped push button and carpets were retained with the floating stud.

The transmission cover plate was attached to the #2 floorboard with short flat head wood screws used in concert with large countersunk washers. Michael Driskell (35fordtn above, aka Third Gen Automotive) sells the correct screws and washers, but the mat sockets and push pins that go into the socket are scarce.

David I have a few NOS sockets and snaps I believe I’ve shown you as well ( don’t want to sell them). Someone told me a old metal chapstick lid works; maybe it was you that told me that?

David is a walking dictionary on 32-34 Fords. I try to be a sponge when around him and absorb all the information possible!

Michael, likely I was the culprit.

How about those original prices to the dealers! All you'd need for the four pairs in front and two studs in the back corners of the mat would be twenty-two cents. Of course, everything's relative and your income would be comparably modest.

I bet an old metal chapstick lid is harder to find than original Ford socket

You're right; my tip is very dated.
