Default Bob Drake Ford script 6 volt headlights 1940 Ford

I recently purchased Bob Drake regular 6 volt Ford script headlights to replace old Bob Drake 6 volt halogen Ford script headlights.
I had two problems with them:
The first set fogged & burnt out when I tested before installation.
Bob Drake replaced them at N/C & free shipping & I did not have to return the bad ones.
The second set tested fine but on installation they do not tighten up properly when you snug the the headlight retainer up?
The halogens I replaced fit perfectly.
They appear to be not thick enough where retainer meets headlight?
Has any one else experienced this?
Looking for suggestions.
Thanks Tom.

Can you place 3 or 4 drops of silicone seal on the edge of the bulb to make it thicker and then let dry and trim to fit properly?

Usually the problem is caused by the small knobs at the rim of the lamp. Drake used to grind them off so they would fit. Perhaps they didn't do it properly, or at all. Trying to get assistance at Drake is mostly futile. When I ordered trunk lid hinges for my '47, they didn't look anything like the originals, and wouldn't fit. I called and was given their stock answer:
"No one else has complained" and you must have a "different" car.
