Default '29 No-Start Surprise

Ol' Clyde, 29 CCPU, parked for several months (Sta-Bil in the system), battery on Tender. Spun freely and strong, but no start. So, on a whim and before checking the usual suspects, I had a friend operate the starter while I quickly hand-choked the carb by placing my hand over the carb intake (brand new rebuild, by the way) - Ol' Clyde fired immediately and ran perfectly....... Drove around with no problems, returned home, put him in the garage, and tried to start: nope! (Don't have my friend right now available to assist), so what do you think, Fordbarn gurus??

Choke butter fly may not be closing all the way when you pull up on the choke. It has to close all the way or you will not get enough "suck" to pull gasoline up into the intake.

My opinion,

I think Ol'Clyde is a contrary old man who needs some adjustment! Or if you want to start him buy choking him with your hand, raise the hood choke with your left hand reach over and push down on the starter rod your self. If your carefull Ol'Clyde won't bite you !

If you try to start Clyde yourself be sure he is in neutral and apply the parking bake or he may try to run you over.
