Default Cost shipping to Austrailia?

I have a set of 38 windshield hinges on eBay. I had a guy send me a message asking if I would consider shipping to Austrailia. Without his postal code I did a quick estimate on UPS site from my location to Sydey. The average cost of four different services was $100 to ship the one pound package. Is that correct? I know some of you guys ship to Austrailia and some of you guys live down under. I'm certainly willing to help the guy, but am weary of the guess-work involved with shipping costs. Thanks.

The better shipping option would be to use USPS as opposed to UPS. Should be considerably cheaper.

Keep it under 4 pounds, and it will go for between $20.00 and $28.00.
Over 4 pounds and its an "arm and a leg".

I Use U.S.Postal sending 4 shocks ( 25# )was $103.00 and That was with some Insurance,
Next time 4 shocks ( 25# ) same coustomer it was $ 60.00 And I told the Person what I pd last time he said he was right, Go figure. I think the 1st time was correct.

Once we are sure it gets there we owe him a refund of the difference / I make nothing off shipping!

They do have a (25# or 30# ) weight restruction on over sea shipping.
Go to the post office use flat rate box it works for in country & international shipping but the rate is higher for international then if in country.

In country they have tracking @ no charge but is is not offered on internation al shipping .

I just dug out what I think is the latest price sheet from them dated 1 / 27 / 13
Thinking what hinges would weigh it should about $ 23.95 But please don't hold me to it >>>

Just last month I was swayed to sell to a fellow in Perth. A one pound item cost $25.+ which included tracking only in the USA and no insurance. I sweat it out but after two weeks the item arrived. I cannot understand such costs.
So from here on out my ebay selling will be limited to in-country ONLY. On the other hand a vintage hinge would be of some value to a fellow car buff!!

I've shipped several packages to Western Australia in the past 3-months and Priority Mail is, by far, cheaper than FedEx & UPS by about four times. All my packages have gotten there within a week to 10-days.

Here's a link to the Priority Mail International Calculator: http://ircalc.usps.gov/

I sent a letter to Iowa from AZ a while ago(2 weeks) & sent it priority 2 day for $5.60. It took 5 days. I went back & ask the gal @ the post office what gives & she told me if I wanted it delivered that fast I should have bought the express delivery for &17.00 + change & if I wasn't happy use UPS or Fedex. Then she turned & walked away.

The USPS has been having problems with lost items more now than as far back as I can remember. If customers give the counter folks a hard time, they will get an attitude. The US mail ain't what it used to be but then again at least we still have that choice.

The web sites for all of them suck. I looked it up online for a shipment to Austrailia and got a crazy high price. I took it to the post office and asked them to just tell me how much, it was WAY less the their web site said.

Use USPS FIRST CLASS MAIL INTERNATIONAL or a FLAT RATE BOX to AUSTRALIA. Should be about $25.00 or so. Any PRIORITY shipping is more expensive. Regards, Kevin.

UPS stands for you poor sucker.
USPS is great to New Zealand and Australia.
Around $20 -$25 would be right.
5-7 days.

What's the difference where you ship - the buyer pays it. As long as your not overcharging, everythings ok. Usually buyers outside the US know it expensive to ship to their country. 25.00 to ship something halfway around the world-that's a bargain.

I certainly disagree with this statement. I have always used USPS except for some very heavy items and they have never lost a piece. Just lately I sold about 10-15 extra parts, all sent USPS, and they all arrived at the destination without any problems.

Same with items shipped to me.

The USPS web site is very easy to navigate and I have found, at least for shipments within the US, that the amounts on the site equal the amounts I pay when I ship them.

The only times UPS is cheaper is very heavy items, like a set of YBlock cylinder heads that I recently sold.
