Re: 18 Tooth Speedo Drive for 3:54 rear end
I found a very good used one in the box of n.o.s. 17's. I will sell it for 35.00 plus 3.00 postage. Has 18 on the casting. Looks like it was used very little.

You can buy new 18 tooth speedometer gears from an antique parts dealer here in Maryland, USA. The name of the company is Brattons Antique Auto Parts. The last time I checked they were selling for about $25.00. They have an on-line catalog. Just Google their name to find it.

Re: 18 Tooth Speedo Drive for 3:54 rear end
I believe they will fit and work in a 19 turtle housing but not 100% sure. I know of two Fordbarners who have used this gear from Brattons. Send a PM to Shadetree and Redneck an ask them which turtle housing they used for their 18 tooth gear.

Bratton's (800-255-1929) sells a new 18 tooth gear for $17.00, catalog number 23190. 17, 18, 19 tooth gears interchange in the same housing.

Re: 18 Tooth Speedo Drive for 3:54 rear end
I am revisiting this thread. Is the 18 tooth gears offered by Brattons for Model A's only? I believe the housing is the same from 32-48. Will this gear work with a 36 Ford?

Re: 18 Tooth Speedo Drive for 3:54 rear end
I was told that there are two different 18 tooth turtles for Model A's. If you are going to put it in a '32 or later, you need the one for the '30/'31 Model A. I don't know what the difference is.

Re: 18 Tooth Speedo Drive for 3:54 rear end
Their catalog probably speaks only of Model A applications. The gears they sell will work in a '36 turtle but you will need a #18 or #19 turtle for the gear to mesh properly with the drive gear that's on the drive shaft.

Re: 18 Tooth Speedo Drive for 3:54 rear end
Thanks John. That is what I was wondering. Before you were not 100% now is that so? I have been told a 18 tooth will work in a 19 turtle but I have only found the brattons 18tooth gear for a model a. Not one for the later 32-48 gear housing.
