Where are they?
As I walked the show field at Hershey I noticed very few V-8 and Model A Fords. For example, there were 20 Model A's registered in the program and only 10 ,(excluding commercial vehicles), actually on the show field. When I got home I pulled out the 1968 Program, yes I save everything, and counted over 200 Model A fords registered! Where are these cars, are they stashed in garages and wasting away? Any ideas!!

The NSA knows but they aren't telling.

Re: Where are they?
The Model A owners are in nursing homes, maybe not all though.

Re: Where are they?
I was going to go, but the rain thwarted my plans. I have a Model A that was entered in Driver Participation.

Re: Where are they?
I think you will find that a large number of them have been made into hot rods.

Re: Where are they?
I would bet that hot rods have not made a dent in the model a's. There are still tons of a's out there. And a bunch more to be found. I was talking to a insurance guy that is local. He told me that he sees a bunch. When he goes out to people's places. He said most of all of them are just sitting. Inside and outside. And they don't want them insured. They are all old people. And the cars will probably be for sale soon. I think many a's are soon to show up.

Re: Where are they?
My town has about a 25% in elderly population and on Memorial day that's when I see the Model A's. And 99% are owned by older people. We get at least 20 or so in the parade. I expect that number will go down as the owners get up there in age.

Re: Where are they?
Hey now, I'm an A owner and not in a nursing home. 33 years old and I have owned my A since I was 18. I got a call from a lady yesterday that asked me if her daughter could use the car in her wedding next weekend. I will have it at the church for photos.
I would love to get out to Hershey but work schedule keeps me from getting there. One of these days I will, hopefully soon. |
