I'm looking for information on how to disassemble the dealer installed sportlite. My knob rattles when driving and I would like to install a felt washer or something to eliminate the noise but do not want to ruin the old round black knob. Any suggestions or advice would be helpful. Thanks!

Ron Ehrenhofer restores the original Sportlites. I have bought some parts for mine from him. Very knowledgable. Should be able to answer your questions. I PM'd you his e-mail address.

I seem to remember that you hold the nut and unscrew the knob. Also the collar is threaded so you may be able to just tighten it.

But check with Ron first. Been a long time since I had mine apart.
