Intake manifold
I am replacing the intake manifold on my 35 sedan. The one I am installing has a diamond shaped hole for the breather and fuel pump rod to mount on. My question is the tube that inserts into the flange on the block does not come up to touch the manifold there is about 3/4 inch between the tube and the manifold. It should stay in place with the pump rod holding it but wondering if this will cause a problem?
See the photo of the new one installed, the picture of the one in the box is my old manifold. Notice the opening on the top of the manifold is different. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Re: Intake manifold
That is a 34 manifold....The tube is supposed to drop down from above after intake is fitted. You have it positioned underneath. You can actually see the witness mark left from where it has been fitted as I describe.
There are two different heights of that flange for the fuel pump mount, depending on manifold... 1" difference....accordingly there are two lengths of that baffle tube....it would appear your tube is the short version, and your manifold is the tall version.

Re: Intake manifold
And they have long and short baffle tubes, depending on manifolds. I agree that is a 34 manifold.

Re: Intake manifold
Fuel pump rod goes in first, umbrella down, gasket, baffle should fit flush on gasket, fuel pump stand covers flange on baffle, tighten 2 nuts. That hole should be round.

Thanks guys for the excellent info. As always great information putting me on the correct heading. I will have the correct standpipe to match the manifold in a few days. I am not that concerned with accuracy as I am dependability. I have a pretty much original car but I don’t show it nor do I do parades. I drive it and will show it in non-judges shows. Re: Intake manifold
The 34 intake manifold does not use the lower baffle tube. 34 the baffle tube is part of the upper fuel pump adapter and oil filler pipe, where the baffles are in the oil fill pipe. Ford first used the lower baffle pipe in 35. The shape of the hole in the intake manifold is round and the baffle tube fits in from above, once the intake is fitted. 35 the fuel pump adapter has a slight recess on the bottom to accept the lower baffle tube expanded top flange. The photo below is the 35 fuel pump adapter, you can see the recess in the base for the baffle tube .
