This is my grandfather, John G. Innes, at the family farm ( still known as Justafarm) near Ashburn, Ontario in about 1914. I drove past the farm 10 minutes ago in a 1911 Buick - I think the road is a little better now.

NOTE: The door handle on the driver's side & I think the Acetylene generator is a little farther back than some ----- it is a Canadian built car.

There are several websites to post pictures to share, they will come as full sized images.

I use Photobucket - http://photobucket.com/ Set up an account there. After you post your pics there you can link and post them here. There might be other ways but I found this the easiest.

That had to be at least as bad as horseback, yes I knew is must've been polo or croquet of some kind, was kidding about using a T-for ball.. Notice the size of the ball, about like a soccer.

Getting better efficiency out of a car through good aerodynamics is certainly not a new idea; Bucky Fuller did it in the Dymaxion car and Chrysler did it with the Airflow. However before either of them, Harry Stevinson of Bashaw, Alberta took a junked model T Ford (top speed 45 MPH), "aeromodded" it and got it to go 70 MPH. The fuel economy also went from 25 miles per gallon to 38 mpg.

That Ford racer is Frank Kulick's. He was the main test driver for Henry in the early days.

Here is that racer he used on ice for a stunt in 1910

I, especially, found your collection of old movie theatre photos interesting. Just five years ago, I sold the longest continous operating movie theatre in the USA. It opened in 1907 and is still operating. I bought it from the daughter-in-law of the founder in 1978. I have some old photos, but I don't think that any of them have cars in them. I'll have to check my collection.

Thanks, I was just consolidating them here for the Ford folks. Credit & thanks goes to all who have posted them on the web from their personal collections. I found most of the movie pics on a local (michigan) website and remember some of the drive-ins from my earliers days. Only posted those with cars and particularly Fords.

Many of the above photos are of Pontiac Mi, where I was born - but those pics are waaay before I was around. But my dad was also born there in 1914. Some of those old buildings remain but Pontiac is a shell of its former self. Most auto manufacturing is gone from there. There's tons of great old photos out there but it takes a lot of time to find and sort them out. Good thing it's been slow at work lately

, I don't expect it to stay that way for long.

This FORD porcelain sign is so new, that it has not been hung up yet. There are a few FORD flyers taped to the inside of the windows.
This is probably in Oregon, as the m/c license plate is Oregon and dated 1917. The motorcycle is a HARLEY-DAVIDSON.

Actually it looks like a Hudson, about a 1924. Notice the Hudson triangle in the middle of the bumper & the Hudson crest on the spare tire cover.

It is on some kind of dynamometer to check HP under load. Notice the large wheels under the rear wheels & the lever that the fellow closest to the car is holding. It looks connected to a brake on the driven wheels.

About 1930. Standing beside the T is my aunt, Jereldine Parker. At the time she was teaching at IXL rural school, south of Arkansas City KS. The road is US 77, two lane concrete. I don't know the mom or any of the kids.

No, the cars in both pictures are 1922 or earlier. The first one is 1919-1922. Windshield straight up, demountable rims. The second picture doesn't show the kind of rims, so it could be 1917-1922. It looks like the trailer may have solid-tire truck wheels.

The pics I post on this thread are - for most part - considered public domain, easily and readily available from various sites all over the 'net, without providing via e-mail.

Not bullet holes. The fly specs ? are on the building, tires, steps, etc.

thanks for pointing that out, I didn't really pay too much attention to other than the vehicle. Some of the pics I find on the Library of Congress' archives are poor quality, much worse than even this one. Good thing is at least they've been preserved as good as possible.

I've been lurking and reading on this Web site for some time and decided I should try a post. This is the greatest original photo that I own. I first saw it about 25 years ago when helping to prepare for the centennial of our town. I tried to buy it from the original owner but he would not sell. Later on, after he passed away, his widow called me and gave me the photo saying her husband wanted me to have it because I'd take good care of the photo and the history surrounding it. I was lucky enough to have known three of the men in the photo. The picture quality/detail is almost unbelievable and it's too bad I can't post a larger version of the picture.

This photo was taken in the fall of 1923 at the gravel pit near Racine, Minnesota. The company that owned the steam shovel and a couple of the trucks was Link Construction. Most of the TT trucks were owned by locals that hired out to haul gravel that fall. The bottom dump boxes on the trucks were built by the guys that owned them. The man with glasses on top of the new truck in the photo (second one in the center), is Jens Petersen who I was lucky enough to know and was a great old guy. He was a Ford dealer in Stewartville, Minnesota for many years until that fall. During 1922 and 1923, Henry Ford set out to get rid of some of his dealers. In the early years Ford would give a dealership to just about anyone that applied. Some towns had several dealers. He then changed and required his dealers to have more inventory of both cars and parts, better shop equipment, and sell a minimum number of cars per year. Added to that was the fact he kept lowering the advertised price every few months and dealers sometimes ended up having to sell the T's at less than they paid for them. Jens' said he'd had enough and shut down his business after he ordered a car and truck for himself. You will also notice that the cabs on these TTs are all a little different. Ford did not build cabs for his trucks until 1924. Before that you built it yourself or bought it from a truck cab vender. There are 14 trucks in the full version of this picture: 12 are TT's - 1 is a International shovel nose - 1 is unknown.

Posts: 1,047	Re: Old Ford Pictures - social group Getting better efficiency out of a car through good aerodynamics is certainly not a new idea; Bucky Fuller did it in the Dymaxion car and Chrysler did it with the Airflow. However before either of them, Harry Stevinson of Bashaw, Alberta took a junked model T Ford (top speed 45 MPH), "aeromodded" it and got it to go 70 MPH.
