Odd brake rods
I'm rebuilding the front axle on my '29 business Coupe and found that both front brake rods are formed like the one in the photo. These aren't bent due to damage but appear to have been formed that way. When connected to the brake actuators they are aimed straight ahead instead of slanting back downward to the brake cross shaft as most do.
Has anyone ever seen front brake rods like these? Or are they just some weird aftermarket ones? Brake rod (2).jpg |

Re: Odd brake rods
Seems like someone tried to adapt/fit too-long brake rods.
Anything other than a pure, STRAIGHT brake rod will tend to lengthen under tension giving a soft pedal. Very unsafe. |

Re: Odd brake rods
I believe that they are original and at some point in time caught on the shock adjusting screw. I have seen it before. I would heat it some and straighten it, if overall it is in usable shape.
