My friend has resurrected a 1972 Ford F-100 with V-8, bringing it back to life after a long slumber and a near death experience. It is now streetable.

He is interested in rebuilding a Borg & Warner overdrive unit for this truck.

Can anyone on the forum refer my friend to a reputable vendor in the Chicago/Northwest Indiana region who can rebuild this unit?

The T-85-N with R11 overdrive is not all that different from the old R10 overdrives used in the 8BA flathead era. The R11 is a 4-planet gear type instead of 3 but it still works the same way and has the same basic internal and external components. The key will be finding a shop that has the tech publications to cover them and some experience with the Borg Warner electric overdrive wouldn't hurt. A good core may be a job to find but get the best one available if still looking.

Just to add. I believe that the truck unit has a fixed output yoke. It requires a telescoping type drive shaft if I remember correctly.
