Friend looking for 1929-1931 straight windshield Town Sedan
Hello all -
I have a friend who is looking for a nice, straight windshield Town Sedan that would make for a nice tour car. I say Town Sedan because he has mentioned that he has a preference for a car with a rear center arm rest and the two outer arm rests. He is an older gentleman, so I don't think that he would have much interest in one that would require much in the way of serious mechanical issues despite its otherwise nice appearance - same with major cosmetic issues as well (heavy scratches or dents, cracked fenders, etc.) I've checked the local area and the MARC and MAFCA websites, but he has not found a good match for him to this point. If you or anyone whom you might know would have a nice car that might need a new home, please let me know and I will pass whatever information on to him. Thanks in advance for your consideration and help. |

Re: Friend looking for 1929-1931 straight windshield Town Sedan
I do a search every morning on Craigslist for cars 1931 or older. I have picked several cities in different places of the US and have expanded the search to include nearby areas in those cities. So it casts a fairly wide net. Here is one that is interesting, but probably not what your fiend is looking for: https://philadelphia.craigslist.org/...400780239.html
The problem with this technique is transportation. Some are good enough to just drive home, especially if not across the country. But bring a tool box and some spare parts.

All have preferences…
I’d try talking him into a slant fordor. Much better car imho But a bit harder to find and more expensive |

There's more, but I can't remember all of it! The car still needs seat kits (2)F & R, Interior kit, Glass, except for windshield and quarter windows. maybe $ 1200 in small parts to completion although most of it is there, much new! $ 9850. The car can be seen in my profile at the album" My A". Much provenance! Clear Pennsylvania Title! Terry |

Dick, Did your friend find his car. This is the first Fordor I have seen in a while on the Craigslist I visit, and it is a repeat.

If you find a 1930 with good wood, I’m not sure a slant window is much better, unless you really prefer that look.

Re: Friend looking for 1929-1931 straight windshield Town Sedan
Baskin Robbins makes 32 flavors so all have a choice!
Trust me, visuals aside, the slant coach is FAR superior to the wooden framed fordors. I’ve built several of both. Slant fordor is best model a coach Henry built. Forerunner of 32 on. I won’t do another straight windshield fordor. The down sides are most are indented firewalls with outside shutoff and slant parts are often harder to find a more expensive |

That’s about as nice of fordor as I’ve seen in awhile.
Not sure I’d want $29k in it but build cost would approach 2x that |

Yeah, I like that car too. It has a police head and automatic advance inside the engine for the distributor. The spark advance is somehow wired to be the starting switch. The price is right.

Here’s another Similar Town Sedan setup I found on Minneapolis area Craigslist.
Pricing is in the ball park of the other. From pictures looks like it may be a Dealer or consignment place. Don’t know just passing along. Would have to view in person. |

Re: Friend looking for 1929-1931 straight windshield Town Sedan
"Straight Window Town Sedan" is a tougher want than it used to be with the body wood getting even older. Decaying body wood leads to severe rust. Dramatic how the late '31 "slant window" sedans, while fewer were made, have such a higher survivorship because of reduced body wood. The price of the sedans can be shocking. Good Luck: Fred A
