I have a '57 Ford 9" (3.70 gears)and the Chassis Engineering spring kit behind the T5 in my 36coupe.One thing about the 9" there are lots of gear ratio's.I understand that the Granada rear ends work well and not to wide.Call Chassis Eng (Iowa) and ask what set up they have springs for. It's all an easy bolt in and I even used their sway bars.

If memory serves me right the 48ish Fords still had a banjo style rear axel with open driveline. May not be the best but woudl look more correct from the rear

The Ford Granada is an 8", plenty ample for a flathead and even a SBF. I have an 8" in my 1948 Ford Woodie, a heavy car, no problems. Good luck and welcome to the Forum. You will get lots of good information from this site.

Am putting the Granada 8" with a 3:55 in my '36; it's the one CE recommends for the '35-'40 as you don't have to relocate the spring pads on the Granada housing.

I have a 8" from a Granada in my 40 and put a 3:55 gearset in it. Parallel leaf spring kit with shocks from Chassis Engineering . The whole thing bolted in and fit perfect. My flathead is 296 ci with plenty of pep, I could probably went with a 3:25 gear .

I don't like the 9" because of it's weight, but 296 V8 has the answer.

The Granadas also came with 9" rears, even had the disc brake option too.

Any Dana 44 will work fine behind a T5. The jeep Cherokee is a good width but you have to relocate the spring perches. With 3.70 gears my T5 cruises at 2050 RPM at 70 MPH.

The offset yoke on any open driveline is giong to make the shaft "close" to the side of the floor tunnel near the rear. I had custom springs made to hang off Ford Ranger hangers that bolt to the frame rails. Then welded some extension to the plate that goes under the springs to mount the shocks.

There is a kit available to adapt a S10 4X4 T5 to your torque tube so you could use your stock rear. Can't remember who was doing it but it was covered on the Hamb a couple of years ago and I've saw one car with it installed.
A little searching on that site could turn up the info.

Why not use the rear end parts from Hotrod Works and use your original banjo? I stock trans conversion kits for both the Chevy pattern S10 and the later Ford Pattern S10. They use your original clutch linkage.

I believe Steve Serr is selling it for the Model A crowd. It's manufactured by Dan Bridges (Crazydaddyo on the HAMB) It is not a bolt in affair. It will require extensive surgery on the X-member and a shortening of the torque tube and driveshaft.

Dan also did at least one for the Jeep T5, which would fit better (still not bolt in) in the V8 Ford.
