53 Customline Front Upper Control arm clearances

1953 supplement indicates clearance to be .0007-.018 "upper arm inner shaft and bushing.
Which side is the clearance on outside as shown in the attached photo or inside under the seal?

Question will likely be the same for the Lower control arm

That dimension is between the threaded bushing and shaft and is what gives lubricant the space needed to flow between them.(both sides, upper and lower)

It is generally checked dry before final assembly to make sure it is a loose fit.
There is no such dimension taken as you show.

Since the shaft & bushing are both threaded I will not disassemble to take the measurements

They did not seems overly loose & if during Lube the grease comes out where the shaft turns into the inside of the bushing, should be good to go.

Please advise if this makes sense.

So long as there was no binding when it was assembled to the shaft, there should not be any problem.
