More 28 Hardware Finish Questions Etc.
August 28 car.
I am aware that the bolts for the timing cover are to be thick headed and cad plated. Valve cover bolts are natural finish. Not able to determine the following from the JS. 1-What is the correct finish for the special bolt, nut and washer for the timing cover that is used by the powerhouse adjusting arm? 2-Where is a good place to source the leather gasket for this bolt? 3-What is the correct bolt and nut finish for the other end of the adjusting arm that attaches to the PH generator bracket? Also, what is the correct bolt and nut size for the PH end? |

1. Mine are plain
2. I'd make one from a piece of brown leather 3. No nut, as the bracket is threaded. My hardware was plain. |

BadgerA,
I think your first statement is half right. The judging standards state that the timing cover bolts are dome headed and either cad plated or raven finished. Personally I think raven looks better on a dark green engine and that is what I used. The lockwashers are unfinished. I believe Tom is correct, as I got two NOS powerhouse timing cover studs from Bert's in Denver and they were unfinished. Rusty Nelson |

Thanks to all. It is my understanding from reading the JS that the timing cover bolts were CAD plated in 28,, not raven. I believe they switched to raven at the end of 28 and on.
