My new 2 blade fan
Had quite a time quieting my new fan. Directions say to put it on the water pump and test for rubbing between fan and pump housing. This I did. Had to grind off some of the housing and all was quiet. Put it back on the car with out a problem. Started it up and was surprised with the grinding noise. Thought maybe it would "run in" and eventually stop. No luck. So off it came again and more metal was removed from pump and fan hub. Whisper quiet now. Sounds like an A again. Makes me wonder why the mfr doesn't make the id of the hub a 1/16" larger. Seems pretty simple to do. Anyway, if you are going to do this job be sure to take the time to check clearances.

Re: My new 2 blade fan
the pump housings vary in diameter and length. Their must have been a number of aftermarket pump housings.
