32 3 window windshield questions
I’ve been working on getting my windshield frame
ready to go to the platers and I got it apart but I broke one of the little corner thingies. I say “thingies” because I don’t know what they are called nor can I find pics or listings from catalogs on the internet. These things are cast (whatever metal) angled pieces that go inside the windshield frame at the bottom corners on each side. Flathead machine screws go through the frame and into these to hold the top “hoop” to the bottom part of the frame. What are they called and who has them? Or will I just have to make some (I am a machinist by trade). Another question is where do the chrome “corners” go that I CAN find all over the Internet, but my car doesn’t seem to have them. It was hot rodded back in the early 50s. Thanks for any info and pics if someone has some. |

Re: 32 3 window windshield questions
You'll likely have to make the internal 'L' shaped part that holds the upper and lower parts of the frame together as I don't recall seeing reproduction of that part for an original frame and those used in a reproduction frame may not fit right or have the screw holes line up with those in the frame pieces.
The chrome plated die cast pieces finish off the joint between the upper frame portion and the lower portion as shown in the photo below. |

Re: 32 3 window windshield questions
Love your problem.
Dqvidg is right. As usual. The "L" shaped pieces are bent steel, not cast. I suspect, but am not certain, that ones from any real 32 windshield frame would work. It/they/ are simple things. All they do is hold the bottom edge of the windshield frame together. Get the right width and the rest is easy. Says he who has original parts |

Re: 32 3 window windshield questions
I bought a pair of those "L" shaped thingies from a guy in Idaho ( forgot his name ) for 33-34 windshields , he was producing them , major problem with his was , He did NOT drill and tap them. which is the most difficult process to making them correctly , so the countersunk screws fit flush. The aftermkt guys used to sell tapped cylinders which screwed onto a threaded Rod bent in the correct "L" angle , so you adjusted the screw holes by turning those end pieces up or down to locate the holes where you needed them , they didn't work well either, as they allowed the frame to twist , where as the solid steel originals held the pieces securely.........I have an original 32 3 WDO Windshield frame with the glass still in it , looks perfect but I have never attempted to separate the frame , also would fit Victoria, I can sell it

And here I thought someone made every single piece for a 32 Ford. Not these evidently. |

I’m afraid shipping would be killer. Unless the price of the w/s was REALLY good (for me). I will have to take it apart and cut it for my car. See my avatar pic. That said, MY frame will have to be repaired and re-chromed which will be $$ too. PM me a price and pics. If you will check shipping to 38053. Thanks. |

I made one out of 17-4 stainless.
The base in Millington is all but gone now. Just an anministrative skeleton crew now. The airstrip is now Millington Municipal Jetport. |

No glove box knob.
No GLOVEBOX! See my avatar. It had (will have again) gages all across the dash. I’ve made many things for the Coupe and the 55 Chevy Handyman I have. Main reason I became a machinist. Should have been a bank president or something. I could just write checks! LOL! |
