Looks like same color as my car. Not sure what they called it in 40 but in 39 it was Dartmouth green.

Up until 1936 ,the Ditzler color chart I have shows 10 different shades of green. I would expect some of those carried over to 1940 as well.

Ford offered three green colors in 1940: Acadia Green, Yosemite Green and Seafoam Gray. I think the color on the coupe is Acadia Green. Yosemite Green is very dark. Seafoam Gray is very light. Acadia Green is in between both and is the color on my 40 Tonner. (photos attached)

So, if you do win it, are you still going to drive it to the winner's house?

If I were to win it I would leave it as it is, and drive it all over the lower 48 states before heading for home in Alaska. I probably would ship it from Seattle though. there are a lot of long stretches in Canada with no help, especially for this old of a car. help with experience and parts would be hard to come by.-----Jim

O.K guys the color of the 40 is Cloudmist Gray. If you look at the color chips in the Ditzler paint manual for Fords from 37-48 the Cloudmist Gray chip is on the money for the color on the coupe. Photos , depending on lighting and whether taken indoors or out, can change the actual color on a car. The photos you have seen actually make the color look darker. Posting them from a photo onto a computer also has an effect on the color.

Awe come on Jim, a trip like that would be fun! I'll even take off work and go with you. I just hope it's coming all the way up to North Pole though(already sent off for my tickets).

In my defense:

To spell is one of those verbs with both an irregular form and a regular form. (See the table below for some others.) The past tense and the past participle can be written as either spelled or spelt.

Always room to learn something.
