Default Brake service rod

My front brake service rod is a straight rod that does not have the nub. Hence, the brake rod return spring serves only as a guide for the rod and does not act as a spring. Is this correct? Acceptable?

Is it just the one, or, all of them ?

Looks like you need a couple rods.

What happened ? Does it look like someone ground them off or something ?

The center of the nub is 17 1/2" from the center of the fixed end of the rod. I would think you could drill the threads out of a 5/16 nut, cut it half, weld the halves to the rod, and grind it to shape. Of greater concern is why there are no nubs in the first place?

It was cheap enough and easier to order a new rod. Not sure why it was missing. Working through the braking system slowly

Somebody probably took a piece of threaded rod and made one for whatever reason.

You can buy originals from Berts. That nub is important.
