Default '35 Top boot and side curtain "shrink"

I just bought a '35 roadster that came with all of the side curtains and the cover for the top when it is down. I don't think these parts were on the car for a long time, they are replacement, not original from Ford.... I'm guessing LB or some other quality company.

The problem is... they all shrunk a bit and won't reach the snaps.

Has anyone had any luck stretching these parts?

The main one is the top "boot" as I would prefer to run the car with the top down more often then not.

Thanks for any help
Zach

Is it canvas or plastic? If canvas, try soaking it in hot warer and try to stretch it back on.

I believe its Canvas... sounds kind of crunchy though when you bend it. Wasn't sure if it was some kind of other material to make it more waterproof.

thanks!

When you wet them, they will go back to there normal size. One thing you have to consider though is that they may shrink right back after they dry out. If you snaps are in good condition and the structure they are attached to is sound, there should be no problems. If parts are made of any cotton, even though pre-shrunk, they will still shrink some. If any polyester materials are used, it can shrink with sun and heat exposure. If things shrink too much, it can break the snaps or the structure but most times it just pulls the snaps off.
