We had a good day today, got scrutinised for the event,
This arfo we went for another drive out to the sticks,we went to a secret US survailance place,we got a couple of pics.
We saw the guard come out so we took off.
After fixing the distributor problem the engine seems a lot smoother, even though the distributor we changed, and the changed one were both timed and set up on my machine.
The fuel out here is different as it is labeled LA!for low aromatic, but it seems ok,mind you with 7-1 comp anything would be ok.
The cars here for the weekend are something to be seen, with blown engines out through the bonnets ( hoods)

I would assume... it's because of the high temperatures... to keep it from evaporating and causing vapor lock?

Dang, huffing gas is one of the fastest ways to lose IQ points. Plum ate up with dumbass... is about the only way to describe it!

Never thought it would have been a big enough problem to design special gasoline to combat it!

Mmm yes and "Chroming" is as bad [sniffin' aerosol paints] .
Yes Meth is quite a problem here but it wouldn't get out into the bush & its to expensive for them.

The orange thing is an XD Ford Falcon. Early 80's not overly appealing.

How you going there Lawrie?

Yea it's very interesting to this Yankee. More so NOW that it's a falcon.

okay I did a google search. Maybe I'm thick, didn't know this existed.

Sad to hear about the other. Not to distract from the gracious Lawrie posts. Back to regular broadcast.

how fast do they go 60 mph [thanks to the gov regulating the fitment of speed limiters] not bad taking into account that 3 trailers are 55 meters long and weight in at 180 tonnes 4 trailers get up to 240 tonnes and if you think youve got a fuel economy problem these things will burn up a liter every 350-450 meters adds a whole new meaning to fillherup

I,m on my way home now, left Alice yesterday arvo, good drive up to 3 ways, about 490klms,
No drama, lots of road trains heading east loaded with hay,
33 going greatand fuel is getting cheaper, last fill up was 1-75 litre.
Works it about $31-50 per 100 klms
The 33 just hums along at about 54 mph,
Pulls up the hills as easy as,
Uses no water and only about 1 ltrs oils in 3000klms.

Im' just going to add for people that dont know when Lawrie said "lots of road trains heading east loaded with hay" . This is important as the east coast is in a very bad drought and these supplies for stock are coming all the way from the west coast to help.

Good Lord! $1.75/litre = $6.62/gal!
Averaging your $31-$50 to $40/100km = $40 for every 62 miles!

Here, gas is around $3.80 where I live... and I think that's expensive! It was less than $3 not that long ago.

We take things for granted here!

Enjoy your trip!

Well, the last two days I had a head wind all they way, fuel economy went out the door, and I had to resort to the Jerry can twice, the last run this morning really had me sweating, get into Camooweal with about 8 ltrs to spare.
I think what buggered up the economy was some crook fuel yesterday, that later in the day had the engine pinging on the hills!i was going to keep going until nightfall, but thought better of it and stopped,I adjusted the vac brake right in and took about 4 degrees timing out, it then ran way better ,like before.
I had noticed when I got the fuel the engine was. Not quite as smooth and the water temp was up only a small amount ,but the oil temp was up to nearly 90C,normally about 80- 85.
Still used no oil though,
There are lots of road trains out here, these ones are filled with cattle!the cattle have their heads and arses out, makes for interesting driving when behind.
