Default Model A Ford Wico Magneto Help Needed

Good morning,

I could use your help. I have a Wico 1508 magneto that I would like to run on my car. I would like to find someone to rebuilt/cleaned-up so I can run it. I would appreciate the name or names of any reputable builders that have the capability to do this. At the very least I need a cap. Thank you.

Zig magnetos in L,A. www.donzig.com I personally don't like mags for street use, most don't have any advance mechanism other than the impulse for starting, plus the top-mount kind like the Wico put a lot of strain on the driven gear against the cam.

I've got a Wico mag on our Model A powered portable welder. We got the welder about 15 years ago, but the mag needed points, so I called 1-800-magneto. (click on above link).
Three days and 20 bucks later, they were in my mail box. Installed them and both mag and engine are very happy now. You should be able to get anything you need from these guys, plus good technical advise.

Thanks for the advice. My friend is going to be running this on his Bonneville car and I want to make sure that it's in good shape before passing it on.

I had Rudy Kalen restore my WICO JEM Magnito. I highly suggest that you call him.

Hey Scott,
1508 ? Are you sure of that model # ??
If you do not get a mag rebuilder from the great info that these guys have given you, and don't mind shipping back east, PM me. I use a Vertex Scintilla up top mag...with advance. Runs great/powerful mag.
