Re: Things That Vibrate
The list would be much shorter if you were to ask "Which parts don't vibrate?"

Re: Things That Vibrate
Hey History! I keep all of that contingency stuff in an outside tool box so I can't hear it rattle, but I know it does rattle. Should I also carry a used toilet wax ring????

Re: Things That Vibrate
My annoyances are engine vibrations, chatter from V8 clutch, wheel tamping over 60 MPH, pedals shaking, brake rods rattling and hand brake lever shaking

Re: Things That Vibrate
After having the motor pulled and rebuilt, motor reinstalled, the Accellerator Assembly return spring rattles against my firewall - wrapped piece of rag around the spring - farmer fix.

Re: Things That Vibrate
Hi, the rods that hold the radiator in place. Shrill high-frequency twitching.

Re: Things That Vibrate
Wheel sidemounts: solution tighten arm nuts, air up tires to at least 30# to seat in wells properly.
F150 tranny rear cross member support: solution check rubber pad condition. Doors: use Door Ease (or toilet ring wax as stated) on bumpers, door latches, etc. Windows: solution, shim felt runners if worn or glass too narrow. Body bolts: check periodically Steering column quadrant rods: check felt anti rattles or add insulation inside column housing |

Re: Things That Vibrate
Without sidetracking the thread too far,,, what techniques do you use for isolating a rattle? I find it helpful to have a passenger begin feeling around and applying pressure to various parts and pieces to see if any one application stops the noise. It's not too safe to try this technique if you are the driver and "feeler" while going down the road... don't ask!

Re: Things That Vibrate
Wheel tamping is from a heavy spot unbalance. Tamping is hopping / bouncing. I was driving on I-95 doing 60MPH when a fellow pulled alongside and told my wife that the right front wheel was tamping up & down. It was seriously out of balance.

Re: Things That Vibrate
At 60mph, I would say everything would be rattling. Too fast, even if modified!
