Default new car in the stable!

I have recently added a new car in my little collection. My Dad recently passed and left me his 1928 Fordor. I was a year old when he bought it in '63. I sat beside him on our carport and played with his wrenches as he restored it from a basket case. He tore it apart again in 1990 and installed all new wood, stripped it all down and repainted it, put all new interior in it. There are lots of memories tied to this car and I hope to be able to continue them.

I now have a
1930 Tudor sedan
1928 Fordor
1919 Alamo 6hp hit and miss engine
1949 BF Avery farm tractor
6 maytag motors.

I need a bigger garage!

Great looking car with a good story.

It’s really an old family member.

Enjoy.

Thanks! I have said through the years that my dad would get rid of me before he got rid of the A! Still not sure there wasn't a little bit of truth in there! Lol.

Ayers1, is your 1928 Ford Model A a Briggs Body model, which is different to teh regular 1928 Ford Model A Fordor Sedans?

This 1929 Ford Model A Town Sedan is on display at the Model A Ford Museum at Gilmores, Hickory Corner, Michigan. Notice that the Town Sedans have a Third Window on the side.

You only get one chance to make memories like those. It is not a good idea to let things like this car go IMO. Congrats on now owning it and I hope you get to enjoy it and the memories for a long time.

My Grandfathers Model A Briggs Bodied Sedan undergoing repairs. The rear part of the roof went rotten, so he repaired it adding a Third Window that was not there originally on the Briggs Body Sedan. This was before my time, as it was long gone when I came along. I don't know if the car has survived, but would prove a mystery with the added Third Window?

It is nice that he left it to you. In ready to go shape is very nice too. Nothing quite like a car that has a family connection.

@mercman, that would be an interesting car to come across! Definitely more questions than answers for someone!

Thanks for the comments from everyone! I have messed with it some the last couple of days, about 15 years ago my dad put a "B" model engine in it with a lighter flywheel. It runs great but unfortunately because it has sat more than it was run it looks like the rear main is leaking. I assume the seal has dried up anyway. It appears that will be all I need to do to make it road worthy. I feel very fortunate that he trusted me to look after it for now. I plan on one of my daughters carrying on the legacy when I am done!
