1931 Victoria Leatherback
I'm looking at a 31 Victoria with the leather top. Was this a factory option? Is it difficult to keep it looking clean? If it has to be replaced, is the material readily available and replaceable by the owner? OR should I keep looking and purchase a Victoria with the metal top?
Are there any special parts that are particular to the Victoria that are hard to find that I should make sure are installed on the car? Thank you for your help, Ed |

Re: 1931 Victoria Leatherback
Ed, both models were factory made. It seems the leatherback was early on and the steel roof later on.
The top material is sold by some of the larger Ford dealers. Not a big deal to maintain, if you dont leave it under trees constantly. Most have a preference for one or the other. I prefer the leatherback over the steel. |

The Victoria never came with a metal top. The steel back had a top like those on a sedan.

Re: 1931 Victoria Leatherback
The rear body skirt is unique to the Victoria, see picture. The 4 window regulators and window moldings should also be with the vehicle.
The leather back Vicky was made from the introduction in November of 1930 ( as a 1931 model) to about April of 1931. The steel back was made from about April of 1931 to the end of production. The steel back Vicky still had an artificial leather roof insert.

Re: 1931 Victoria Leatherback
Probably the best resource for all things for the Victoria is the International Victoria Model A Association. They have several available note books that contain pretty much all there is to know about the Victoria. Many pictures and diagrams and many stories as well. The dues are only $10.00 a year.
plus a mailed news letter and a Technical Director, plus many tech.articles by Tom Endy (very useful and easy to follow)..Check out there website. Bob |
