Default Tie Rod Compition, Strange finding

I recently cut open an original tie rod which was sealed each end in order to use to make an ajustable drag link, This was the hollow style , no welded seam , inside was filled with whats in the picture, Looks like round punchings ,black in colour, not bakerlite, not plastic , not hood topping, not metal in fact not sure what it is, the tube was full & as had sealed ends must have been there from new , This tie rod felt heavier than another one that i also cut open but it had nothing inside ,I thought by the weight it was solid till cutting open,So filling had enough weight to make it feel solid , Guess not many have ever cut one open before ? So has any one done it & found it too contain same as picture , What is it , ?? Prize will be a free tinny (beer) at next swap meet i attend,
Derek from overcast Nelson,

About 3/16" round, thick paper , Can,t break them in your fingers, Have more weight than say plastic , not lead , black in colour, not rubber, Look like the puchings from when you puch paper to put in a folder , that size, Strange

Deadfill to keep the rod from resonating. Same principle as a shot-filled dead blow hammer. When you get an idea on the material, let us know. Works well on motorcycle handlebars.

I wasn't poking fun, I thought it was some Kiwi term I hadn't heard of.

28RPU Darn thought was going to have some "fun" , After some 45 vists to your great country , i have learnt you guys spell as it sounds, Me im still typing with one finger & wife keeps telling me to learn how to spell.?Then course i did not convert to metrics , like my feet & inches , Pounds to dollars , thats ok as now have twice as much in the bank, but then now have to go twice as far to get it, & it cost twice as much, to get there ???

Quickchange, you are a smart man. I've had my "shelia" for 51 years and wouldn't think of trading for a new model either! Don/WI

Had my Shelia for 40 years and she decided she wanted a cowboy instead of a Model A Man so I let her go.
