Default Distilled water dispenser??

A friend from church is cleaning out her late brother's house and found an item that someone told her was a distilled water dispenser for Model T or A era cars. It is a metal frame with a gallon jug. Does anyone recognize this item and if so what should I tell it is worth. Any guidance would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Supergnat

Maybe for batteries?

I can't see the end with the cap in your photo. I have one and was told it was for oil lamp fonts. Mine has a spring loaded lever sticking out of the cap. I would think this mechanism would have rusted away if water had been in the bottle.

Thanks for all the replies. I gave the item back to the owner so she can let the antique dealer sell it for her. I doubt anyone in our club would buy it. One sold on Ebay recently but it had markings to identify its use. Perhaps these dispensers had multiple uses.

The gallon-sized glass jars with the springloaded plunger in the metal cap are usually from Kersone or "oil" cook-stoves.... Lehman's Hardware in Kidron Ohio still sells them.

It is absolutely for refilling batteries. There is a small ring on the side to clamp the fill tube up so it does not leak and also a hook to hold a hydrometer.
