Question Magnified Gas Gauge Glass?

I have been cleaning and painting the gas gauge that I took out of my '29 Coupe. Well, I was looking through a bag of old parts/bolts etc., and I came across what looks to be a magnified glass lens for the gas gauge. It has an oval shaped magnified portion and I even found the corresponding, oval shaped face plate. The one I took out of the car was just plain, flat glass with a round hole in the face plate.

Is this oval shaped, magnified glass and face plate correct for my car? Is this a rare piece? Any drawbacks to using this? In the picture, the glass on the upper left is what I took out of the car. The glass on upper right and face plate on the bottom are what is in question. Thank You for any input on this!

My 2-23-29 Tudor has a magnifying glass and oval plate also. I think they went for a month or two after my car was built. Have to check the J/S to be sure.

The horizontal oval shield was used april 28 thru july 29 give or take, and was used with either the flat or magnifying lens. I have a july 29 roadster and have a magnifying lens for it but havent got around to do the swap. I prefer the mag. lens as it is a little less common.
