Default Replica License Plate

I have a 53' Mercury Convertible, the same as the car used in the movie, The Long Long Trailer. Where could I get a replica License Plate made to hang on my wall as the one on the car in the movie?

Check your state laws. Some states do not allow replica plates.

I don't want it on the car but just for the display on the wall. We have a 50's car room in the house. I have a YOM plate on my car.

I also think the car in the movie was a Lincoln, the Lincoln and the Mercury looked pretty similar those years.

They used both a Lincoln and a Mercury in that film. It seemed the Mercury didn't have enough "Ooomph" to pull the trailer in the scenes in the hills, so a similar looking Lincoln was brought in for those scenes. The Mercury was used in most of the film, however.

The trailer used in the film is the 1953 36-foot Redman "New Moon" model, which sold for $5,345 (equal to $48,889 today) at the time. It weighed 3 tons. The Lincoln was only used in the mountain, the rest of the movie used the 53' Mercury Convertible.

I'll bet they used low gear a lot on pulling that monster. There would be no starting out in intermediate gear with that kind of weight in tow.

Ah, yes the 50's Coke machines when you could pop the tops off the bottles and drink them with a (paper) straw while still in the machine

Great Fiber Mcgee and Molly long trailer episode.
I especially like how he tries to hide from his wife behind his jacket.

I'm confused, is there a '53 Mercury or any other Ford flathead in the episode?

How about having someone 3D print it for you, maybe a snap over for car shows too.

The plate appears to be longer than a regular California plate. Anyone know the dimensions of the plate and the width of the letter/numbers?

After all, this is the 'Movies'. Possibly a made up phony plate, made just for the film.

The California plates were longer back then. I think the smaller plates came out in 1956 if I remember correctly.
