Default Awkward Moments and a Friend In Need

A friend of many of us and fairly active poster from time to time can use your best thoughts and prayers. The awkward part will be clear as you read on. While remaining positive he's been quite private about his battle with cancer in part to avoid what he feels would be undue sympathy. Not many were aware of his past battle or the recent recurrence that came on strong the last 4-6 weeks. He reiterated to me just last week how he was uncomfortable going public and "making a big to-do" about it.

Well, I was aware of his scheduled surgery early today and cautiously awaited word. After awakening from surgery he was heavily medicated as one might expect. In that groggy state (and the doctors telling him more than he could possibly digest) he got my number up on his cell and told his wife to tell me to post a message. He really needs any and all support that can be mustered at this time. He still has issues requiring close monitoring and is expected to be in ICU for couple days. It's still scary.

Back to "awkward". I'm not so sure how he will actually regard his request to post when the heavy meds taper off. His wife felt similarly. I almost posted nothing but that just wouldn't be right at this time. I'm sorry for the contradiction in that I feel the need to go public on his behalf but still protect his privacy. Some of you will know or guess who our friend is and others may never know.

Again, a friend can use your best thoughts and prayers.

PLEASE do not publicly throw any guesses or names out here.

Thanks...

My thoughts and prayers go out to your (our) "A" friend at this time of need. With enough prayer anything is possible. I have known people that were given a short time to live and many are still with us and living a good life. It is possible. Don/WI

Lord, please bless this man and his family. Guide the doctors to rid this illness from his body, and grant him the rest and care he needs to recover, Amen.

Marco, he has people all over specifically, --and anonymously praying for him. I spoke with him at length in French Lick regarding this and immediately added him to the prayer list at my church. One of my customers who is a minister (who was also in F-P competition at F.L.) also has been praying specifically for him. It is truly awesome!!

I must confess that I too got very concerned when I received a phone call late Sunday evening regarding updates on him. I was very uplifted this morning when I opened my e-mail and saw the latest e-mail update from his wife. I think the "awkwardness" will be thwarted when he realizes just how far & wide people are lifting him up in prayer, and how many friends he has out there that are truly concerned about his well-being and full recovery.

I to have had cancer and I know where your friend is coming from about letting people know his condition. I have no ideal who it is and that does not matter what matters is you are a good friend for posting a hard decision the only thing that matters is a full recovery. It does not matter what the name of the person is because God knows which of his children is suffering, me and my family will pray for this person for a great recovery. God bless him through this difficult time. Robert and Rita DeBord

Marco, my prayers are with the family. I too don't know but one of you on the forum, so I'm sure I don't know him, but God surely does. All random prayer will get where it needs to go.

tell your friend he is in another's prayers as well. I've worked with several cancer patients, know the struggle well and have seen miraculous successes arising from seemingly hopeless situations. There is always hope and a little prayer can go a long way to victory.

I recently lost a best bud with similar feelings. While in his battle he didn't want to be a burden (his belief) to his friends/aquaintances nor seem to seek sympathy. Gotta respect that. By the same token, it took until he was in the final days at the hospice for him to realize just how many lives he had enrichened as the many friends came to say their goodbyes. I wish he hadn't have waited to realize just how much support he had, but I get his not feeling like he was imposing. Tough call.

Marco, you've done a good thing here, I hope and pray he has the opportunity see this outpouring for the affection it is and draw strength from it.

"Again I say to you, that if two of you agree on earth about anything that they may ask, it shall be done for them by My Father who is in heaven.
For where two or three are gathered together in My name, there I am in their midst"
Along with our "barn" friend please include in your thoughts and prayers for my fModel A friend and business partner who is also suffering from cancer.
