Default ?? For the "EARLY" 28 Guys..

I know all about the 1928 Radiator Shell cover with the woven laceing & the two slots on the front for the Ford oval, I have several of them... I just picked up one by only seeing the front of it & it was showing the slots so I figured it was like the others.. After getting it, all is the same EXCEPT it has holes for the rivets & NOT for the V Early woven large holes.. In checking the J/S it does not mention this change or time frame ??.. Any body else seen this before ??.. Info...

Hi Fred,

Yep, square holes and no lace for the hood! Now, the lace-up shell I have has
no square holes, just the round hole.

I'm not terribly surprised. Ford INTENDED to change to the riveted lacing on the shell in November 1927. They may have actually produced some of the "new" shells in 1927 or very early in 1928. I've been expecting something like that to surface.

I had a '28 rivited lacing shell with the two slots and round hole for the emblem.

I think I speak for a lot of people here who would really appreciate seeing some pictures of these variations, if possible.

Thanks
