I used drop in tubes on 21 fixtures. Not one has failed and that was over a year ago. Every one is still working perfectly. Two garages, house and two rentals. I think the ballasts last much longer with LED tubes because of the low current draw. If a ballast goes out I would replace the fixture but so far it has never happened in any of them. Drop ins are a great deal IMHO.
